  • Village Traditions Live On

  • The trees and the smithy are long gone, but the blacksmith is still there, in spirit. The Blacksmith Eatery and Bar in the new Takanini Village development recalls memories of the days when horses were thick on the ground in an area famous for producing many of New Zealand’s top race horses, some of them trained by the Wallace family, whose Village farm gave the shopping centre its name.
